FAXAGE

FAXAGE is our pick for Best Internet Fax Service. The service appears very reliable, the pricing is the least expensive we have found, and they fully support secure SSL-based send and receive (which many higher priced competitors do not). Overall, we think it's a great service.

If you are a low volume fax user, the company's base price of $3.50/month + $0.05 per minute is a good choice. That price includes your own dedicated local number, SSL, and no advertising of any form. If you typically send or receive, say, 20 pages per month, your total bill will be under $4. They also have slightly higher priced plans for high volume users.

After extended use over a period of several weeks, we have found that this small company does in fact provide reliable send and receive FAX services in spite of the bargain price. We haven't experienced a single glitch in the send or receive process.

Your incoming faxes can either be emailed to you as PDF files, or emailed to you as links for downloading over a secure SSL connection. Outbound faxes can likewise be sent via the company's website over a secure SSL connection, or by simply emailing a document (in Word or PDF format) to phonenumber@faxage.com (e.g. 5613334321@faxage.com). Their system will automatically send you a confirmation email once the fax has been sent successfully or if a problem was encountered.

Overall, it's difficult to find anything to complain about and the price couldn't be much cheaper.

The good (+)

  • low monthly fixed cost
  • secure SSL send and receive capabilities
  • appears highly reliable (no outages or busy signals encountered)
  • flexible setup options (faxes can be sent to multiple emails, etc.)

Shortcomings (-)

  • doesn't support faxing to international numbers (consider TrustFax.com if you need this)
